at the theatre organ
Robin Richmond was first attracted to the organ while still at school and took every opportunity of stealing away to the organ in the church.
The organist there was sympathetic and gave Robin many tips, later becoming his teacher. When he was seventeen he landed his first job as assistant organist with the Streatham Astoria Orchestra. Following on this. he played for two years at the Trocette Cinema in South London, and later at the Granada. Brighton. He gave his first broadcast in this country on September 13, 1938, after giving his very first broadcast from Schevening, Holland, only ten days earlier.
