A series of wild-life programmes.
Introduced by Peter Scott.
The hyena with its weird laughter is one of the scavengers of Africa. Very few animals are afraid of hyenas, but hyenas are afraid of everything else. They play a waiting role, watching the skies for the vultures to lead them to the remains of a kill. But how do they live?
Mervyn Cowie, Director of the Royal National Parks of Kenya, tells their story and his film looks at animal life in Africa from the hyena's point of view.
