The Music Child

on BBC Two England

Music as Therapy
' Music is therapy and has always been so.' Yehudi Menuhln introduces the second of two programmes looking at music and the handicapped. The healing application of music has a long history and yet it is only in recent times that its therapeutic value has been rediscovered. At centres throughout the country, we see the extraordinary effect participation in music can have on mentally handicapped children and adults. Children who do not respond to normal human contact are reached and moved through music. Narrated by Alexander John
