Continued coverage of the second-round singles matches from the grass courts of the All England Club.
Last year, Greg Rusedski surrendered a place in the third round - and his composure - after a thrilling second-round clash against American power server Andy Roddick. The fifth seed took the first two sets 7-6, 7-6, but his
British rival staged an impressive comeback with an early lead in the third. However, the umpire refused to allow a let after a rogue call from the crowd broke Rusedski's concentration -this lead to an expletive-laden outburst for which the British number two was later fined L1500.
Roddick then went on to claim the third and final set 7-5.
Elsewhere, Belgian numbertwo seed Kim Clijsters beat
France's Virginie Razzano in straight sets 6-1, 6-3, while eventual men's champion Roger Federer warmed up after a slow start to power his way past Austrian number one
Stefan Koubek with a 7-6, 6-1, 6-1 win.
