Ahnb, still intent on finding the white whale, has taken the Pequod on to the whaling grounds of the China Sea. Here she meets with a French ship, whom Stuhb cheats of a whale very rich in ambergris, and an Englishman who gives strong news of Moby Dick-her captain having lost an arm to the whale just as Ahab lost his leg.
