Second of six films exploring Britain's secret past from 1900 to 1960 through a combination of personal accounts and rare archive film.

Women who were brought up in an age when sex outside marriage was strictly taboo reveal the profound impact extra-marital affairs had on their lives. Government propaganda films warned of dire consequences for those who committed adultery and the sexual double standard caused women to suffer most. Some even lost custody of their children.
