Gawain

This award-winning opera by Harrison Birtwistle is set in Arthurian times and is based on the medieval epic poem, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight. This was the innovative opera that, last year, brought a disembodied talking head and full-frontal male nudity to the Royal Opera House. The opera is directed by Di Trevis, designed by Alison Chitty and introduced by Jeremy Isaacs. During the interval, a discussion between Birtwistle and librettist David Harsent.
