For 20 years, Renato and 'Zaza' have lived happily together in a flat above their drag revue club, La Cage aux Folles. Then Renato's son, Laurent - fathered in a moment of heterosexual abandon - announces that he is going to marry a girl. Worse than that, her father is a leading light in a political movement for moral order.
