Plus, the early rounds of the women's 100m and the men's shot put. The first track medal will be decided today in the men's 20km walk. The three-day eventing individual competition - which is separated for the first time from the team event - reaches its conclusion with the show jumping. Are British expectations of a medal justified?

In the swimming pool, Britain's Commonwealth champion Adam Ruckwood competes for a coveted place in the 200m backstroke final.
