Starting ten-week series in which musicians tell the story of rock music from its origins in the Mississippi Delta to the global domination it enjoys today.
In the fifties, a new musical force appeared, shaking up clean-living America - rock 'n' roll. Following Fats Domino's lead, Little Richard burst onto the scene in New Orleans. In Memphis, the new music also emerged, and a young Elvis Presley recorded his first songs. Featuring interviews with Little Richard, Bo Diddley and Chuck Berry. Bo Diddley also performs in Later with Jools Holland, tonight at 11.50pm. See today's choices.
