Heimat (meaning
'home') is a unique
German television series that has held cinema audiences throughout Europe spellbound.
Set in a small village in the Hunsriick, the 11 episodes cover 63 years from 1919 to
1982 through the lives of three families.
1: The Call of Far Away Places When Paul Simon comes home from the First World War, he is expected to follow family tradition and work in the forge. However, Paul's head is full of wirelesses and the world outside the tiny village of Schabbach.
