Cast characteristically in a powerful and aggressive role, the late Yul Brynner portrays Sultan, a troublesome yet idealistic Indian rebel confronted violently by the imperialism of the British Raj. His values and attitudes are admired by Major Freddy Young, the police officer hoping to bring the bandit to justice, but, for two men of honour, ideals and duty are not easily reconciled....
