A two-part celebration of Laurie Lee 's classic, Cider with Rosie.
2: An End to Hunger
Before the book's publication, Laurie Lee conformed to the traditional image of a young man struggling to have his talent recognised ... living in a garret on a diet of pig's liver and toast. Its success changed all that: he moved out of the garret, improved his diet and bought his first overcoat.
In this second programme, he and his family talk to
Marjorie Lofthouse about life after Cider. Laurie admits to the dangers of being well-fed, while his publisher agonises over the problem of getting his hands on the third volume of his autobiography.
