Network: Hospice

on BBC Two England

Tonight from BBC South West

A hospice was originally a lodging for travellers. But in recent years it's taken on a new meaning: it's a place for the continuing care of the terminally ill. Here pain can be brought under control and the patient and his family can learn to make the most of the life that remains. Last autumn Gordon Cryer visited the Sir Michael Sobell House in Oxford and he believes that other regions must follow its example.
