Brian Plummer is a hunter. His obsession is with the ways of rabbits, hares, foxes, badgers and rats, and of the dogs that men still breed and train to hunt them. Brian once lived without money for two years on what his dog could kill. Now he earns his living as a teacher, and by writing books on hunting. But he still hunts, walking the suburban fields north of Birmingham with a bleak eye on the encroachment of the city, and for himself as one of the last of a dying breed.
