The Other Half

on BBC One London

with John Pitman
Six love stories about six very different couples. 4: Angus and Tony
For the past 32 years, Sir Angus Wilson , the distinguished author, has shared his life with another man - Tony Garrett.
Sir Angus is 70. Tony, who is 55, once had a promising career as a probation officer. But somebody anonymously told his employers he was 'living with a well-known homosexual' and he felt obliged to resign. Such relationships were then illegal and there was the threat of prison.
'But I had no intention of leaving Angus', says Tony. He became Sir Angus's secretary, and still does the job today. They are both happy now, though Sir
Angus feels guilty about Tony's career. 'He could have been so many things-and naturally I have this feeling that I've swallowed up somebody's life'.
A historic film. There's never been anything quite like it. (DAILY MAIL) Series producer EDWARD MIRZOEFF Director JONATHAN gill
