Alan Villiers and Peter Scott discuss Sail Training.
Many countries support square-rigged sailing ships. In Denmark there is the Georg Stage, in Portugal the Sagres, in Norway the Christian Radich, in America the Eagle, and in Germany, until recently, the Pamir and the Passai.
This afternoon Alan Villiers and Peter Scott examine the case for and against these ships, the advantages of square rigged sail as opposed to the fore-and-aft rig, and also talk about the tragic disaster of the Pamir.
