In the last few years there has been a gentle revolution in the Republic of Ireland, but a revolution as important as the violence of 1916 and the 'troubles'. A new self-assured Ireland is emerging from a bitter and sometimes sentimental past. The first moves towards a rapprochement with Northern Ireland are a symbol of Ireland's determination to face reality.
Tonight Enquiry examines the painful process of turning Ireland into a modern European state.
