The Natural World

on BBC Two England

Cheetah and Cubs in the Land of Lions. Tanzania's Serengeti Plain is a savage paradise - where rearing a family is a battle against overwhelming odds - even for cheetahs. For these, the fastest of the big cats, lions are a menace. For every 20 cheetah cubs born, only one survives to maturity. Wildlife film-makers Hugo van Lawick and Gil Domb devoted a year in the Serengeti to following a mother cheetah and recording her efforts to outwit lions, apparently intent on killing her two cubs. Narrated by Rula Lenska.
