Yesterday in Stockholm one American and four British scientists received the highest honour science can bestow, the Nobel Prize.
All five, working in this country, made discoveries which give the exciting promise of a solution to the mystery of life itself. For this work they share the Nobel Prize for Chemistry and for Medicine.
In frank and personal conversations Stephen Black meets the winners:
Dr. Max Perutz, Dr. John Kendrew, Dr. Maurice Wilkins, Dr. Francis Crick, Dr. James Watson.
What their work means to science and medicine is explained by Professor Michael Swann.
Introduced by Raymond Baxter.
