Festival Flamenco Gitano 1968

on BBC Two England

The first of two programmes
featuring La Singla, Regla Ortega and Paco de Lucia.
Introduced by Olaf Hudtwalcker

(The Festival Flamenco Company appeared by arrangement with Lippmann-Rau and Harold Davison Ltd.)

Outside Spain genuine flamenco is so largely unknown that Spanish stage dance is often mistaken for it. Festival Flamenco Gitano 1968 is the real dance of the Spanish gypsies presented by an outstanding group of young artists.
La Singla ranks among Spain's ten best flamenco dancers and may be described as the star of the troupe. Regla Ortega is another outstanding flamenco interpreter, and Paco de Lucia a brilliant young guitarist who was awarded first prize at the Flamenco Festival in Jerez de la Frontera.
