A rare chance to see the late Leonard Bernstein conducting the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra's performances of Shostakovich's Sixth and Ninth Symphonies, marking the twentieth anniversary of the composer's death.
The two concerts, shown for the first time on British television, were recorded live in 1988 in front of an audience at the Musikverein, home of the Vienna Philharmonic. The second is preceded by an illustrated introduction by Bernstein.
