The Cog of Bremen sank in 1380 without ever having gone to sea. A sand dredger discovered her in thick mud in the river Weser at Bremen, North Germany, in 1962 -a missing piece of the nautical jigsaw between the Viking long-ships and the 17th-century Vasa. In this Chronicle Magnus Magnus -son tells the story of the fight to save this huge vessel from being torn to pieces by the tidal river which had covered her for 600 years, and how the Germans are reassembling the pieces in a museum in Bremerhaven.
