(The Journey to Rheims)
Claudio Abbado conducts Rossini's long-lost opera in a performance from the Vienna State Opera. It was composed in 1825 for the coronation of the French King Charles X at Rheims Cathedral. Ironically the "journey" never takes place, since all the horses are being used for the coronation. Instead the would-be travellers perform dances and songs from their native countries.
