Black Britain

on BBC Two England

The Black Tribunes - Special
Report. The tenth anniversary of the election of Britain's first four black MPs of modern times is on 11 June. Diane Abbott ,
Paul Boateng , Bernie Grant and Keith Vaz entered the Commons with high hopes. Ten years on their story mirrors the tension between Old and New Labour.
All were veterans of the left-wing Black Sections movement, and were selected at a time when the Labour left was in the ascendant.
Rianna Scipio examines the record of this group of MPs, asks them what, if anything, they feel they have achieved in ten years in opposition, and what they hope they will achieve in government. Producer Angela Phillips ; Series producer Patrick Younge
