Ninth in a 13-part series of investigative programmes from the BBC regions.
When Sandra Williams reached 21 stone, she knew she had to diet or put her life at risk. Through her video diary and interviews with reporter Sally Mountjoy, tonight's programme follows her struggle to become, almost literally, half the woman she was.
Sandra's medically-supervised regime of just 400 calories per day replaced food with sachets of protein and mineral powder for months, although she still continued to cook for her family. With obesity reaching epidemic proportions in the UK, specialist Dr Nick Finer explains that one in six adults is putting their health at risk and advocates more help for the seriously overweight.
