The John Player League featuring
Hampshire v Kent
Test calls will undoubtedly rob Hampshire of West Indian stars Gordon Greenidge and Malcolm Marshall , but in the past five years the county have won the John Player League twice. Trevor Jesty , although missing several games through injury, completed 1,000 runs last season and under captain Nick Pocock much will be expected of him and all-rounder John Rice.
Kent saw the trophy snatched from their hands in last year's exciting televised finish. But any side able to call upon the services of Derek Underwood , Asif Iqbal , Bob Woolmer and young Graham Dilley will surely be in the prize money again.
PETER WALKER introduces the programme, which includes news of today's other fixtures.
