Emotionally scarred by her childhood experiences with men, Gloria decides that they will never ' use' her again. ' I pick the man, he doesn't pick me', is her attitude. One that her highly successful career as a model makes eminently possible, until one day she encounters the handsome and wealthy Weston Liggett. This famous feature, based on John O'Hara 's controversial novel, won Elizabeth Taylor her first Academy Award.
