Brensham People: Going, Going, Gone

on BBC Two England

from the books by John Moore adapted for television by Hugh Whitemore
John Moore's books are about life in and around Tewkesbury (fictionalised as Elmbury) up to 1945. A high-spirited 'midnight steeple-chase' by young farmers, the effect of the 1931 depression, and a friendship with one of the characters of the district, an irascible retired Colonel, all form part of this first film.
