PICASSO AND THE IMAGE

on Third Programme

by John Golding author of Cubism
For most young painters today, bred on abstract expressionism, Picasso is an old master rather than an active influence. [ohn Golding looks at his late work in relationship to other developments in post-war painting, and tries to assess to what extent it may provide a fresh inspiration to painters of the future. A large retrospective exhibition of Picasso's work is on view in London at the late Gallery until September 18.
