A dance piece devised by choreographer Kate Flatt and designer Sally Jacobs, featuring a diverse group of British performers aged from eight to 74 and drawing on customs and traditions from throughout the globe. Progressing from the wild, joyful dances of youth to elderly couples slowly turning round a ballroom floor, the work is intended to express the power and influence of dance and music in a community. The music is performed by Hungarian band Muzsikas, who specialise in traditional Transylvanian village dance tunes. The filming location, the labyrinthine Clink Vaults near London Bridge, adds to the atmosphere. Kate Flatt's credits include the musical staging of Les Miserables and the recent Royal Opera House production of Aida. Sally Jacobs has designed for productions including Beethoven's Fidelio and Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin.
