The Year of the Penguin
The last Royal Silver Jubilee to be celebrated in Britain was in 1935. In that year Allen Lane founded Penguin books; T. E. Law rence died; Gershwin's Porgy and Bess and T. S. Eliot 's Murder in the Cathedral were first performed; and there were new novels from Graham Greene , George Orwell and Dorothy L. Sayers.
