Chinese Journey: 2: The Yangtse River and Peking

on BBC Television

View in Radio Times

The second of two films by Claude Arthaud and Francois Hebert-Stevens.
Three years ago two young French archaeologists sailed westward along the most famous of Chinese rivers, the Yangtse Kiang, filming en route the dangerous Yangtse gorges. Their final destination was Peking, where the Forbidden City of the Emperors is now a People's Museum, but where, in the busy streets behind the market, the old uninhibited traditions of Chinese life are still carried on.
