Symphony
The second in a series of musical explorations into three late Mozart works.
Tonight Jeffrey Tate considers Symphony No 39 in E flat major (K 543). How does a conductor discover the right tempo for Mozart? Or achieve a proper balance using 'modern' instruments? Or make the orchestra 'sing'? Following the workshop, Jeffrey Tate conducts a performance of what he calls 'this gloriously witty, optimistic work'.
With the English Chamber Orchestra, led by JOSE-LUIS GARCIA.
