The second in a three-part season of pilot programmes which became classic comedy series. Hi-de-Hi! was set in 1959 in a fictional holiday camp called Maplin's. First shown in 1980, it completed a hat trick of successful comedies for writers Jimmy Perry and David Croft after Dad's Army and It Ain't 'Alf Hot Mum.
