A series of five programmes about British teenagers from the 1950s to today.
4: In the 70s and 80s teenage styles revolved around music and dance. Belonging to an identifiable group is important when you're young: ex-Punks and New-Romantics wanted to shock or challenge. Many teenagers sought excitement through rivalry and aggravation. Girls are more important than they were in the 50s and gender-bending has encouraged questioning of sexual roles.
