Professional Champion. The No 1 seed and favourite, ERIC BRISTOW , plays this afternoon and has a potential
'humdinger' against 'rapid-fire' RITCHIE GARDNER from
Surrey. The 1984 winner, MIKE GREGORY , also plays this afternoon against newcomer RICHARD SMITH of Cumbria who is on song at the moment. Ex-world champion KEITH DELLER , also plays one of the 12 newcomers to the competition, EDDIE GARRETT from Warwickshire. While one of the potentially best matches of the first round takes place between No 8 seed DAVE LEE and Scotland's
ROBERT MACKENZIE.
