This afternoon, at the Royal Society, Professor Fred Hoyle , F.R.S., and Dr. J. V. Narlikar presented a paper on A New Theory of Gravitation
In this programme
PROFESSOR HOYLE reviews the present situation with a comment by PROFESSOR HERMANN BONDI , F.R.S.
A year ago. astronomers announced the discovery of a new class of heavenly body-the ' quasi-stellar ' objects. This discovery came at a time when there were already certain trends in astrophysics towards a rethinking of fundamental physical laws; and it has led to claims that we need ' a new kind of physics ' to explain the observations.
