On Baile's Strand, one of Yeats's first verse plays, tells of the fight between the legendary Irish hero Cuchulain and his unknown son, and of Cuchulain's death fighting the waves. The play headed the bill on the opening night of the Abbey Theatre, Dublin, on December 27, 1904.
