played by Cyril Stapleton and his Orchestra
Cyril Stapleton was performing in public when still a youngster. He started learning the violin when seven years old, and in a year was winning prizes in music festival competitions. He first broadcast when only thirteen from the old Nottingham studios, and at fourteen he was leading a three-piece orchestra in a cinema. After study in Czecho- Slovakia, and at the Trinity College of Music, he went into Henry Hall 's band, eventually leaving it to form one of his own in Nottingham. He later toured with Jack Payne , formed another band of his own at the London San Marco, and later went to Fischer's Restaurant in Bond Street, where his is the resident band today.
His combination is somewhat unusual, consisting as it does of three tenor saxophones, three violins, bass, guitar, drums, and piano.
