Tonight's 'Iona' programme not only promises to be interesting in itself but forms a fitting prelude to the service to be relayed from Iona Abbey next Sunday. An article on the Holy Island, blessed by St. Columba on the last day of his life (according to tradition), will appear in next week's issue of The Radio Times, published on June 5.

The Rhapsody for violin, 'cello, and orchestra by Kenneth Harding , who plays the viola in the BBC Symphony Orchestra, is, in effect, a double concerto. It was composed in 1928, and received its first performance by the National Orchestra of Wales under Warwick Braithwaite in 1929. Kenneth Harding , who studied under Sir Walford Davies , was for some years principal viola of the National Orchestra of Wales. 
Vladimir Vogel's  'Ritmica Ostinata', based on a marching song, dates from 1933. It is one of three studies for orchestra, of which the other two, ' Ritmica Funebre ' and ' Ritmica Scherzosa ', were performed at the Oxford-London Festival of the International Society for Contemporary Music in 1931. Originally composed for a brass orchestra, there is yet another version (with words) for chorus and wind orchestra.
