A commentary during play by Howard Marshall from Headingley, Leeds

The Headingley ground is one of the most pleasantly situated grounds in the North. Headingley is a Northern residential suburb of Leeds. Five England v. Australia Tests have been drawn there; England have won none; Australia have won two.
This should be one of Bradman's favorite grounds, for he has made outstanding big scores here. In the 1930 Test at Headingley, he put up the record total of 334 not out. The match was drawn.
On the last occasion when Australia played England at Leeds in 1934, Ponsford and Bradman put up the record fourth-wicket partnership of 388; Bradman scored 304 and Ponsford 181.

[Box out] Fourth Test Match
Howard Marshall will describe the second day's play at Headingley in broadcasts at 12.30, 1.20, and throughout the afternoon between 2.15 and 6.40.

Ballet Suite, El amor brujo (Love Magic)

The story of Falla's ballet El amor brujo is founded on a folk tale in which the ghost of a dead lover appears whenever the new lover seeks to take his place. The scenario was written by the well-known dramatist Martinex Sierra, who prepared also that of Falla's other ballet, The Three-Cornered Hat. The music of El amor brujo was composed in 1915, and the part of Candelas, the heroine, was one of the favourite roles of the celebrated dancer, La Argentina, in the Fire Dance. Candelas, the girl of whom the ghost is jealous, hopes to defeat the ghost by drawing a magic circle on the ground and uttering incantations over a witches' cauldron.

A serial story of Hudson's Bay by Robert Ftaherty read by Geoffrey Tandy
This stirring story has for its central character the almost legendary figure of Captain Grant who, with the biggest cargo of furs collected in Hudson's Bay by one man in hfty years, on board his ship the Eskimo, looked like losing it. At the mercy of tides and ice, he yet escaped his fate by heroic courage and magnincent seamanship, reached England in three weeks to a day, and berthed in London Foot with his precious cargo.
He was acc)aimed by his Company, a new ship was built for him —the best that money could buy. It was a crown to his long, almost superhuman, career. From the moment her keel was laid, he lived at the shipyard where she was building. Every rivet that went into her, he said, was his own nesh and blood.
When summer came, he set out again for Hudson's Bay with the enthusiastic Company's goodwill behind him. Fortune )ay in the ho))ow of his hand ...
