F. J. Findon has a long record of broadcasts from Shelsley Walsh ; both he and Alan Hess are well-known motoring journalists. Hess won the Brooklands Relay Race in 1933, was a member of the winning team in the 1935 Brooklands 500-mile relay race, and finished fourth in the recent twelve-hours race at Donington Park.
The record for the Shelsley Walsh climb, which has two tricky hairpin bends at steep gradients in its 1,000 yards, is held by Raymond Mays.

The course for the eliminating contest flown on Friday, is: Hatfield, Cam-bridge, Skegness, York, Scarborough, Whitby, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Portpatrick, Newtownards, Dublin. The course for today's final is: Dublin, Newtownards, Portpatrick, Carlisle, St. Bees Head, Blackpool, Stoke-on-Trent, Leicester, Cardiff, Hatfield.
To avoid accidents, the fastest machine will leave Hatfield first on Friday. But in the final the starting order is reversed, so that the first machine to cross the finishing line today will be the winner.

Roy Henderson was educated at Nottingham High School. Since 1930 he has trained the Nottingham Philharmonic Society for its concerts with the Halle under the direction of Sir Hamilton Harty. He sang the solo part in Belshazzar's Feast at the International Festival at Amsterdam in 1933, and he has sung and acted with great success in the Mozart season at Glyndebourne, one of his finest parts being 'Figaro'.

The broadcasts of the Lyra Quartet have now become a regular and highly popular feature. Apart from the fact that they provide listeners with the opportunity of hearing many chamber works for unusual combinations of instruments, the actual quality of their playing is always of a super standard. This is brought about by the fact that, in addition to numerous rehearsals, each member of the combination is a master of his instrument.
Gordon Walker , the founder of the Quartet, is principal flute of the London Symphony Orchestra, and was for ten years the principal flute at Covent Garden. He has appeared as soloist in Mozart Concertos at the ' Proms and is also a member, with Robert Murchie , of the famous London Flute Quartet. The violinist, David Wise , is well known as a chamber music player-he was once a member of the Brosa String Quartet-and he is often heard in recitals over the air. Anthony Collins was principal viola of the London Symphony Orchestra, but is now devoting most of his time to conducting and composition. John Cockerill is one of the finest harpists in the country, and is principal harpist of the London Symphony Orchestra.
