We were all dreadfully shocked by Alec's car accident and this has overshadowed the whole week and Mother was the only one who went to Elsie's wedding. I think Grandfather Dale hoped for a reconciliation between Miriam and Alec; but when Alec regained consciousness he asked me to take a message to Louise. I did speak to Louise-most reluctantly-but she told me that she was going on leave and would not be able to visit Alec.
