Produced by David Davis
(John Crocker is appearing in 'Dear Miss Phoebe' at the Phoenix Theatre, London) The two midshipmen, on leave from the aircraft carrier Hercules, are staying with the rest of the Ransome family at Salcombe in South Devon. But at Scotland Yard Snort's uncle, Superintendent Sawbridge, and Inspector McBride are very busy trying to trace a gang of gunrunners responsible for the illegal supply of arms and ammunition to a troublesome foreign country, which for security reasons is referred to as Nonsuch. Among those they suspect are a certain Matson and his confederates Borg, Micallef, and Zammit. But they have as yet no clue to the locations of their headquarters-which are, in fact, a disused tin mine near Salcombe. One afternoon after a picnic lunch with Captain and Mrs. Ransome, Snort, Tiger, and his sister Joan decide to explore, and by chance discover the remains of an old tin mine.
