Norbert Wethmar , Belgian musician, formed his Trio as a broadcasting unit very early in 1934, and his Quintet, which plays chamber music only, in the following year. The combination, one of the most competent of its kind on the air, makes a speciality of presenting light music of the very best class. Wethmar himself received his musical education at the Brussels Conservatoire, where he gained his Diploma of Capacity with the greatest distinction in 1910. After servmg in the Belgian Army for six years, including the whole of the last War, he came to London, and was very soon to be associated with the BBC when he became leader of the Gershom Parkington Quintet.
