STEVE DAVIS V TERRY GRIFFITHS was a firm form
Prediction for one match this afternoon while the other was much more difficult.
JOE O'BOYE must have raised a cheer or two in the Republic of Ireland when he defeated
Cliff Thorburn in a qualifying match, and he may well have overcome STEVE NEWBURY a few days ago. SILVINO FRANCISCO should also have booked back into his hotel at
WAYNE JONES'S expense. DAVID viNE has all the advantages of knowing the names as he introduces the frames from the Hexagon, Reading.

Following a murderous attack on a stagecoach and an isolated relay station, three outlaws take hostages, hoping for a ransom to be paid for the daughter of a wealthy landowner. They reckon without the ingenuity of a struggling ranch owner who is one of the captives. This is one of the greatest of the Boetticher-Scott movies, a tense and exciting variation on the theme of greed and human frailty.

DAVID VINE knows all the answers and introduces coverage from the start of the nine-frame matches.
The Trail-Blazers
Six films of early exploration, introduced from the Royal
Geographical Society by the pioneer polar explorer Duncan Carse.
Royal Safari to Africa (1925) EDWARD. PRINCE OF WALES, was one of the most travelled men in the world. By the time he was 30, he had toured
150,000 miles to be seen by the people of 45 countries, and had earned himself the title 'ambassador of Empire'.
In 1925, 11 years before his brief reign as king, the new government of South Africa threatened to withdraw from the Empire and set up a republic.
So Edward was sent on the most challenging mission of his career....
Accompanied for the first time by a film crew aboard the battle cruiser HMS
Repulse, the Prince's journey through southern Africa was also recorded for
Fleet Street in the daily despatches of a famous war correspondent, GEORGE WARD PRICE.

An Out of Court special
The first of two programmes 'We can't pat kids on the head one day and shoot them with plastic bullets the next. ' On the day of the royal wedding, police marksmen on the roofs of Whitehall watched with loaded rifles for threats to Prince Andrew and his bride. Those same riflemen are the men who will fire the plastic bullet guns if or when they are used in a riot on mainland Britain. This film follows a group of those special policemen, who are trained to kill yet at the same time expected to be ordinary beat bobbies. It tells the inside story of the Metropolitan Police's struggle to maintain public order - at ceremonials, demonstrations and riots - and expresses the apprehension the police feel about their changing role in keeping the peace.
