Christopher Cook continues his exploration of incidental music for plays with scores inspired by some of the great names of the theatre, including music for Sarah Bernhardt by Saint-Saens, a score by John Foulds for Sybil Thorndike in the first performance of George Bernard Shaw's St Joan, and a suite by Richard Strauss inspired by Moliere. Plus music for the 17th-century English stage by Henry Purcell, specially recorded by the Private Music.
