The Letters sent between Bernard Shaw and Dame Laurentia McLachlan, a nun who became Abbess in the closed order of Stanbrook Abbey near Malvern, chart the growth of a strong friendship which lasted over 20 years until Shaw's death in 1950. Their relationship was often argumentative, sometimes amusing, but always deeply concerned.
