Again the question posed is; should this man have been found guilty beyond all reasonable doubt? The Case of Little Boy Blue'
John Walters went to prison in 1973, convicted of assaulting a young girl travelling on a train between Wimbledon and Water-' loo. Three railwaymen who saw the attacker board the train and the girl herself all said he was between 5ft 7ins and 5ft 9ins, slimly-built and wearing blue denims. Walters is 6ft, weighs 14 1/2 stone and didn't own any blue denim clothes.
His sentence was four years. Today, eight-and-a-half years later, he is still locked up - this, time in Broadmoor.
Martin Young re-examines the trial and conviction of John Walters.
